Do you know which websites really dominate the internet in the United States?
By analyzing web traffic data with Lookkle, we have compiled a ranking of the 10 websites with the most monthly visits whose main country of origin is the United States.
The results combine established giants like Google and YouTube with an unexpected protagonist: ChatGPT has already broken into the top 10 most visited websites in the country, ahead of such well-established platforms as X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit.
This analysis is based on the volume of monthly visits and the actual breakdown of traffic by country, which allows us to see not only who is in charge, but what percentage of that traffic actually comes from US soil.
How this ranking was compiled
The data has been extracted and analyzed with Lookkle, a web traffic analysis tool that allows you to check the volume of monthly visits, the geographical distribution of traffic and the predominant country of each domain.
For this ranking, only websites whose main country of traffic is the United States have been filtered, and they have been ordered from highest to lowest according to their most recent monthly visits.

1. Google.com — 39.7 billion monthly visits
The crown jewel. Google remains, by far, the most visited website by Americans in the search engine category. 24.66% of its traffic comes from the US, while the rest is divided between India (5.65%), Japan (5.53%), and Brazil (4.71%).
2. YouTube.com — 13.58 billion monthly visits
The leading streaming and entertainment platform ranks second. 21.36% of its visits come from the United States, followed by India (5.42%) and Japan (4.76%).
3. Facebook.com — 5.69 billion monthly visits
Meta's social network remains the third most visited website in the country, with 23.75% of its traffic coming from the United States. Interestingly, its next strongest markets are Vietnam (5.57%) and the Philippines (5.51%), reflecting its enormous user base in Southeast Asia.
4. Instagram.com — 3.25 billion monthly visits
With 19.53% of traffic from the US, Instagram remains the second most important social network in the ranking, supported especially by Brazil (9.98%), its second most important market.
5. ChatGPT.com — 2.76 billion monthly visits
This is the big leap this year: ChatGPT has now reached fifth place in web traffic in the United States, surpassing established platforms like Reddit, Wikipedia, and Amazon. 19.33% of its visits are from the US, with India (8.14%) as its second strongest market.
6. X.com — 2.03 billion monthly visits
Elon Musk's social network sneaks into sixth place with 27.15% of traffic from the US, although its strong presence in Japan (13.68%), its second most important market worldwide, stands out.
7. Reddit.com — 1.86 billion monthly visits
The largest online forum community ranks seventh. Reddit is, in fact, the second website on this list most dependent on the United States: almost half of its traffic (48.17%) comes from the country.
8. Wikipedia.org — 1.66 billion monthly visits
The world's most consulted free encyclopedia maintains 26.63% of its traffic from the United States, with Japan (6.8%) and the United Kingdom (5.43%) as the next most relevant markets.
9. Amazon.com — 1.45 billion monthly visits
The e-commerce giant closes the podium of websites with the most local dependence: an overwhelming 87.21% of its traffic comes from the United States, far ahead of the rest of the countries (India barely adds up to 0.91%).
10. TikTok.com — 1.41 billion monthly visits
The short video social network closes out the top 10, with 19.43% of traffic from the United States, followed by Vietnam (7.62%) and Brazil (5.48%), reflecting its enormous global popularity outside the US.

ChatGPT is now competing with the established internet giants, something unthinkable just two years ago. Its fifth-place ranking confirms the speed with which generative AI has become integrated into users' daily lives.
